About Iron Range Rehab Center

The Iron Range Rehab Center has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1954, when it opened inside a three stall garage on the north side of the Virginia hospital.  When the Virginia Regional Medical Center reorganized its campus, a new Rehab Center fit into the plan and we moved to the west end of the hospital to a brand new state-of-the-art 15,000 square foot facility.

Though patients and staff now have a better environment, what hasn't changed is our Center's commitment to provide the best care to patients.  The Iron Range Rehab Center's mission is to serve all people - regardless of ability to pay.  "We have the best trained and educated staff in the area" said Henry Tamminen Executive Director of the center.  Many of the 35 member staff, including himself, have been with the Center for more than 30 years.

We are proud to be able to offer the following to our patients:

• Out-patient, inpatient, physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
• Specialties include:

• Large gym with updated exercise equipment, large windows and a view of the Virginia Golf Course - this large roomy area allows patients to work at getting stronger.
• Direct and consultative rehab and home care.
• An auditorium with a kitchen, women's and men's locker rooms and board room.
• Private booths for therapy sessions.
• Separate pediatric area.
• Cooperatively and collaboratively work with businesses and health care organizations to provide the highest quality rehab services in the area.
• Attached to VRMC and Medical Clinics.
• Offer direct and consultative rehab and home care.
